It’s not just a test tube or lab equipment; it’s collaboration and connection. For four decades the Forbeck Foundation has been bringing top researchers and oncologists to work together across institutional and geographical barriers.
Event organizers Anna Costello of Ship Sunshine and Lauren Roadman, Board Member of the Forbeck Foundation, invite you to accept the challenge – to walk 10k steps a day for forty days. Walk for a loved one, general support or for yourself. $40 is all it takes to join the challenge and make an impact.
“The Forbeck Foundation is a prominent organization in the oncology community, with hundreds of participants across over two dozen countries over the past forty years. Even though Forbeck is so widely known within the field, many of our community members do not know the significant impact this organization has had on cancer treatment and innovative advancements. Anna and I have a ‘boots-on-the-ground’ approach, figuratively and literally, to raise awareness for Forbeck. We are inviting everyone who has been impacted by and cares about the future of cancer research to join the challenge” says Lauren Roadman, Forbeck Foundation Board Member.
“I’m participating in the Forbeck Forty challenge in honor or my dad, David Costello, who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2009. He was not only my dad but also a scientist who believed deeply in the power of learning, research, and collaboration. My hope in supporting the Forbeck Foundation is to help scientists achieve the breakthrough that will change the future of cancer prevention and treatment - a disease that has touched so many of our lives” says Anna Costello, owner of Ship Sunshine.
In-person events are taking place in Denver but participants can join from anywhere around the world. Now is the time to get involved – all it takes is $40 and 40 days of action. By participating in the Forbeck Forty, you will have the opportunity to win prizes such as restaurant gift cards and store discounts!
Upon registering for the Forbeck Forty, you will receive an invitation to join The StepUp app which tracks step count and includes a leaderboard. Participants are only eligible for prizes if participating in the app. Further instructions will be provided by email and/or WhatsApp from Lauren Roadman or Anna Costello throughout the challenge.
Prizes will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis based on prize selection of competition winners in order of achievement.
